Malthus paragraph

Even though a higher population can provide more workers, families must be aware of the amount of children they can can support and the amount of resources available. While many large wealthy families can sustain a happy lifestyle, poorer families mustn't surpass the amount of children that they can afford to have.  The main reason a population remains happy is because of the amount of food available, and when there are more people, there is a greater demand for food. This correlation between the rise of food prices and the amount of people is the reason that poorer families with more children become less happy. Malthus argues that the human race is becoming endangered because we are getting to big and outgrowing our resources. The earth only has a certain amount of natural resources and our exponentially increasing population will soon be too much for the earth to withstand.

  1. Good main points- try to explain why the poor families are angry in a bit more depth.

  2. Good Paragraph, but maybe you could put in some direct evidence from the text and you could also talk about the checks on population

  3. you have strong evidence but you need to analyze it and connect the facts to your thesis. and also use more specific evidence

  4. Great thesis in a little different word choices than other paragraphs (Families must be aware of the....amount of resources available). Many great analysis of Malthus's idea that does not just copy the sentence from the reading. I think maybe mention some evidence about the positive check and preventive check.

  5. Dear Theo,

Great job on your paragraph! You used nice vocabulary and described some key points, however I would like to see you stay in the past tense consistently rather than going from past to present and back again. Overall keep up the good work and I really enjoyed reading this paragraph.
